Table philosophy

The strangest things on the table. Or maybe not. Just cards, a dagger, Ganesha, a bonsai tree, books. I don’t like clutter on my table, though on occasion stuff gathers. But the cards and the trees are a fixture. They tend to stay. They are like a man’s statement about the woman he loves: ‘you’re the one for me.’ This is how I think of what I keep on my table. The evening light casts its rays on the silver, the roots, and the magic. I close my eyes and think impossible things.
